This summer, South Valley Community Church is launching South Valley University (SVU)—a series of hybrid courses designed to equip you to grow in your faith, deepen your understanding of God’s Word, and live with greater clarity and conviction.

Each course combines online teaching, a custom course booklet, and in-person weekly cohorts, giving you both flexibility and meaningful connection. You’ll learn, process, and apply truth alongside others in a relational, discipleship-driven environment.

Courses begin the week of June 21 and conclude the week of July 26.

DETAILS
-Register for one of 3 available courses: Theology 101, Grasping God's Word, or Unlikely Heroes
-Complete weekly online modules at your own pace, while completing your course booklet
-Gather once a week with a cohort at a specified location, with a leader to guide conversation with you and others taking the course

Theology 101

Theology 101 is designed to help you understand the foundations of the Christian faith and what it means to be a committed member of South Valley Community Church. This course will walk through essential doctrines, the mission and values of SVCC, and the biblical role of the local church.  

Each participant will receive a course booklet to guide their learning, reinforce key truths, and prepare for meaningful cohort discussion.

Whether you are new to faith or ready to take the step of church membership, this class will give you clarity, conviction, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Grasping God's Word

6 Weeks | Hybrid Format

Grasping God’s Word is a practical, hands-on course designed to help you read, interpret, and apply the Bible with confidence. You will learn the essential tools of hermeneutics—how to understand Scripture in its original context and faithfully apply it to your life today.

Each participant will receive a course booklet that walks alongside the teaching, providing guided notes, discussion questions, and practical exercises to help you engage Scripture more deeply.

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to grow in their ability to handle God’s Word, whether
for personal study, leading a group, or teaching others.

Unlikely Heroes

Unlikely Heroes is a journey through the New Testament, exploring how God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary purposes. From Peter to the Samaritan woman to Paul, each week highlights a different life transformed by the gospel.

Each participant will receive a course booklet designed to help you reflect, discuss, and apply what you’re learning throughout the course. This course will encourage you to see that God delights in using imperfect people—and that He can work powerfully through your life as well.
